Financial advice for Medical Professionals

Your financial future deserves the same care you give to others.

As a busy medical professional, finding the time to focus on financial planning can be challenging. Decisions about income, retirement, and NHS pension benefits are complex and require specialist knowledge. Many of our clients tell us they feel unsure where to start or concerned about making the wrong decision.

But you’re not alone.

At Herald Wealth Management, we provide specialist financial advice for medical professionals, helping GPs, Dentists, Consultants, and senior NHS staff to navigate these complexities.

Our goal is to provide you with clarity, confidence, and control about your finances, so you can focus on what you do best.

Comprehensive NHS Pension Review

Our Principal Adviser, Daniel Hetherington, is an experienced NHS Pensions specialist. He provides tailored advice to help you understand and make informed decisions about your NHS Pension benefits.

As part of our comprehensive NHS Pension Review, he will:

  • Explain benefits under the 1995, 2008, and 2015 schemes
  • Review your Total Reward Statement (TRS) and Annual Allowance position
  • Explore your retirement options and timelines
  • Assess the impact of working less than full time or taking career breaks
  • Plan how your NHS benefits fit into your wider financial goals.

The Process

We follow a clear, step-by-step process to ensure every client receives advice tailored to their unique situation:

1. Get In Touch

Tell us why you’d like a review and what matters most to you

2. Provide Information

Share your latest TRS, complete fact-finding documents, and sign NHS Letter of Authority

3. No Obligation 10-Minute Call

We discuss your current position and determine whether a comprehensive bespoke review is appropriate

4. Confirm & Authorise

Confirm external plans and policies (and sign LOAs, where appropriate) and complete the NHS Pension Review Fee Agreement

5. Bespoke Report

Our NHS specialists collate your information into a personalised report

6. Review Meeting

Receive your report and meet with us virtually to discuss the findings and recommendations

7. Follow Up

A summary of key findings is provided, and you have the opportunity to ask any remaining questions.

Beyond NHS Pensions

Beyond pensions, our advice considers every aspect of your financial life.

  • Pension Benefits

We evaluate your current and projected NHS benefits, alongside any other private or company pensions. Plus, changes to the Annual Allowance and the removal of the Lifetime Allowance have significant implications, and we ensure you understand how these might affect your retirement planning.

  • Investments

We analyse your existing investment portfolio and make recommendations to help align it with your financial goals, risk tolerance, and long-term plans. This includes tax-efficient strategies and diversification to help protect, grow, and preserve your wealth.

  • Protection Planning

We review your existing protection policies and, where appropriate, suggest improvements. This can include optimising premiums, adding policies where you’re underinsured, or maximising tax efficiency through the use of trusts*.

  • Income Efficiency

We assess how your income is received and whether it’s structured in the most tax-efficient way. This includes reviewing partnership and limited company structures, salary sacrifice arrangements, and key man policies – often in collaboration with your accountant.

  • Family Situation

We can also consider plans and policies held by your spouse and/or family members to ensure we review your household as a whole. This means that we can make recommendations totally tailored to your financial journey and provide guidance wholly relevant to your bespoke circumstances – both now and in the future.

At Herald Wealth Management, our approach combines expertise, clarity, and empathy. We understand the demands on medical professionals and provide advice that is tailored, practical, and easy to follow – empowering you to make informed decisions about your financial future with confidence.
